Ipoh Town Hall:Victorian Style Classical Building

Hello everyone! Today, we would like to introduce to you a landmark building in lpoh, Ipoh Town Hall. Its unique architectural style and historical value attract many tourists and locals.

It is located opposite Ipoh Railway Station, it has a century-old history. It was designed by the famous colonial architect Arthur Benison Hubback; construction of the Ipoh Town Hall began in 1913 and was completed in 1916. This elegant Neo-Renaissance building embodies Victorian-style architecture, incorporating elements of ancient Greek and Roman design.

Construction of the Ipoh Town Hall was delayed by three years due to financial constraints and a shortage of building materials during World War I. It was originally designated as the Ipoh High Court Building and was part of the colonial government infrastructure. Likewise, the Ipoh Old Post Office and Telegraph Office located behind the Town Hall was connected to the auditorium and began operations in 1928.

The century-old building has undergone five rounds of renovations, with the auditorium wing expanded about 50 years ago to increase capacity. Despite these renovations, much of the building's structure and materials remained unchanged.
