Hello guys, let's visit a Malay style palace, shall we?
(An incredible Malay traditional architecture. Why? Reveil the answer below)
"Beta, Patik, Hamba." Did you hear these words before? All of them mean "I", but different people used different words to represent themselves. The King used "Beta" to name himself, the servants and normal citizens used "Patik" to represent themselves while talking to the King, and "Hamba" is where the people represent themselves while talking to other people.
This is Bahasa Istana (Palace language). In the past, people used this language inside the palace, especially the royal family, we don't say "Raja bermandi", but "Raja bersiram", even both of them means "The king is having a shower". Bahasa Istana is exclusive to the King, and the place that often hears Bahasa Istana is here: Muzium DiRaja Kuala Kangsar (aka Perak Royal Museum).

(Don't worry, there are explanations in other languages)
The original name of this palace is Istana Kenangan, Istana Lembah and Istana Tepas. It is built by a carpenter named Haji Suffian and his sons, Zainal Abidin dan Ismail in 1926. Three of them are born in Seberang Prai.
(Remember this name! We will unveil his awesome building skill later!)
This palace was built on the orders of Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Shah (Marhum Kadasallah), the 30th Sultan of Perak, as a temporary residence. This is because, at that time, Istana Iskandariah was still under construction. Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Shah resided in this Istana Kenangan from 1931 to 1933. After his majesty moved to Istana Iskandariah, it was used as Istana Tetamu (palace for guests), especially on Royal celebrations such as Hari Keputeraan (Prince's birthday), pelantikan Orang-orang Besar Perak (the inauguration of the Great Perak) and other royal ceremonies (istiadat Diraja Perak Darul Ridzuan).
In 1986, Istana Kenangan was turned into the Perak Royal Museum under the administration of the Perak Darul Ridzuan state government. On November 16, 1986, the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah was pleased to inaugurate the Perak Royal Museum. On March 9, 2009, it was gazetted as a Historical Heritage Site.
(Muzium Diraja Perak, it's original name: Istana Kanangan)
Appreciate this palace well everyone! Now, we will unveil the great building skills of Haji Suffian and his sons. The construction of Istana Kenangan is entirely made of hardwood, with slatted walls and a roof made of wooden planks (bamboo wood) characterized by lima ridges and combed bananas. Iron nails (metal nails) were not used in the construction of this Memorial Palace. The palace is decorated with interesting Malay carvings and uses tepas woven with traditional Malay weaving patterns.
Conclusion: Istana Kenangan = The impressive traditional Malay architecture.
