Chang Jiang White Coffee: Coffee Break at The Foot of The Mountain

Ladies and gentlemen, starving? Here's another recommendation from Moh ke Perak: Chang Jiang White Coffee, a renowned culinary spot! All people are welcomed, the 'Halal' certification is obtained!

The story of this shop begins with Mr. Kong Wing Kheong. During the 70s, he created “Chang Jiang Coffee Shop” along Jalan Pasir Putih, Ipoh. Through trial and error, he innovated a brand new type of coffee that has become a beloved favourite today, "white coffee" (as its colour is lighter than regular coffee).

Do you know? Chang Jiang has four branches with unique designs:

CJ7 (Residential-themed)

CJ9 (Kopitiam-themed)

People Park (Guangdong pastoral-inspired)

CJ4 (Limestone-inspired) (which we are going to introduce.)

(Inside the shop)

(The design of the shop seems traditional)

This branch is surrounded by majestic mountains, like a paradise far from urban life. Inside, you'll see the vintage and rustic wood internal design. There’s chit-chat and eating, giving off a feeling that everyone is seeking a break from their busy life.

(Soup Macaroni)

Chang Jiang keeps the traditional unique way of cooking, maintaining the dish's original layout and flavours. The look and taste evoke a sense of nostalgia. I ordered macaroni as the main course, it’s been introduced as an old-style dish. It might be because I am already used to Western-style cooking, thus, it tasted so novel to eat soup-based macaroni with a heavy Chinese flavouring.

(Toast and egg, the perfect combination)

Among the crowd's favourites is their signature traditional toast. Hot toasted bread with cold kaya and thick-cut butter creates a delightful contrast of temperatures and crunchy textures, truly deserving of its "signature" status.

Pair it with a classic Malaysian favourite, a half-boiled egg, a comforting treat reminiscent of childhood mornings.

Toasted bread with white sugar is another classic favourite that's a must-order. Its perfectly crispy texture, paired with a hint of sweetness. Yummy~

(White coffee, lemon tea and coffee+tea)

And now, the star of the show: the renowned white coffee! Despite not being a regular coffee drinker, I did it just for you guys. To my surprise, the smoothness of the coffee caught me off guard, leaving me momentarily forgetting to savour its taste. Yet, the aroma of coffee lingered around my mouth and throat, refreshing me immediately.

For foodies that aren’t die-hard coffee enthusiasts (like me), milk tea or Yellow River Crossover (coffee + tea) are ready to serve.

(Natural scenery surrounding the shop)

For the environment, it is so natural and refreshing. Not only does Chang Jiang prepare well-designed models and buildings but also allows foodies to walk under nature after a satisfying meal. Just look at the scenery, isn’t it perfect for a beautiful portrait?
